Darktide Penances can be a bit of a mystery at first, as you’ll be receiving points from seemingly out of nowhere when you’re bashing heads in Tertium. You’ll gain a lot of these points if your missions from the Emperor go well, but what are they, and can they be spent on anything?
If you’ve been successful in clearing out Pox Walkers from the Tertium underground, then you’ll no doubt have a small fortune of Penance points at your disposal. You can use a variety of currencies in the co-op games, with gold being the most valuable as it allows you to buy the finest Darktide weapons in your armoury. But what are you allowed to spend your Penance points for?
What are Darktide Penances and how do they work?
Darktide Penances can be used to challenge the multiplayer game. They include killing certain enemies or increasing your relationships with other characters. Some Penances can be used to get weapons or items. All Penances will also deposit Penance points into your inventory.
There are six types:
- Offensive
- Protective
- Mission
- Team
- Classes
- Account
Each Penance type has its own objectives. Offensive Penances focus on killing enemies while team Penances are about working together and reviving teammates.
What are Darktide Penance Points?
Darktide Penance points are there for bragging rights, and that’s it at the moment. These points can be considered a measure of your FPS expertise; a way to compare yourself to your friends. These points can’t be spent or used to unlock items in game. There’s no current word on whether Penance points will be used in the future for anything other than an indication of your mastery of Darktide.
