James Gunn, DC Studios’ new co-CEO has confirmed that future DC Studios games will be linked to the DCU. This may lead to LEGO sets.
DC’s cinematic efforts are currently undergoing a transformation as Peter Safran and James Gunn are the new co-CEOs of DC Studios. James Gunn, the DC Studios co-CEO, recently confirmed via Twitter that all future DC games will link to the DCU and create a cohesive universe in a variety media.
It seems unlikely that every future DC game will be connected to the DCEU but more projects contributing to the ongoing narrative is interesting to see following recent years, where the DCU has been going at a slower pace than Marvel Studios’ MCU.
However, this could offer more inspiration for future LEGO DC sets after the recent revelation that DC model numbers will be deficient in 2022 because of a lack content.
While Marvel has many games, both released and upcoming, they have not been based in the MCU and have only received the occasional minifigures as with Marvel’s Avengers. Being founded in the DCU may improve these future games’ chances of getting more LEGO representation with examples including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order in the canon of Star Wars having at least one LEGO set, but that’s not confirmed.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is one of the upcoming DC games. Another DC game that’s in development is a Wonder Woman title. Since these projects are already in development, don’t expect them to be based in the DCU, though nothing has been confirmed at the time of writing.
