There isn’t much better in life than dishing out four pads to mates, settling on the sofa and whacking seven shades out of enemies. From Castle Crashers To Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, there’s always a place for good-looking side-scrolling beat ’em ups that emphasise the beauty of killing together. We now reach Jitsu Squad.
Jitsu Squad, published by ININ GAMES and developed by Tanuki Creative Studio is the story about the Kusanagi Stone. It contains the soul and power of a demon. Those who awaken it can gain godly powers. Origami, a fantastically named sorcerer, has summoned some old warriors to help him find the stone. This clearly indicates that someone needs to stop him. Hero, Baby Jazz, Jazz, and Aros are the ones who do so: The Jitsu Squad.
You can’t fool us, Tanuki Creative Studio. We spy Yooka Laylee in the screenshots, which can only mean that the heroes won’t be limited to those four. It seems that there’s some cross-overing going on.
If you haven’t got four-players, then Tanuki Creative Studio have you sorted. Tag-Team mode lets you and your buddies cycle through heroes, making sure you have enough health to face the tough bosses.
The screenshots will show that this is an incredibly over-the-top, belt-action video game. It has an art style that is straight out of a cartoon series. It’s extremely polished and vibrant, taking you to some fantastic locations, like the Jurassic era, arcades, volcanic regions and ice levels. Jitsu Squad is a fast-paced, believable group that plays with a lot of fun. That’s fine with us.
You can expect a review shortly, as soon as three other players agree to spend a night with us.
Jitsu Squad is now available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and starts at £24.99 from the Xbox Store. It’s also out on PS4, PS5, Switch and PC.
