Many well-known music artists, both old and new, are creating soundtracks to major video games. The trend appears to be spreading. You can now find several famous voices and specially crafted tunes in some of today’s biggest video game titles.

We will take a look at some of the reasons that so many musicians have crossed over to video games. We will also answer the question: Is it important for artists to appear on major videogame soundtracks?

What artists have featured in video games?

In recent years, many mediums have allowed music artists to appear in video games. They have created a new soundtrack or performed concerts in one of the metaverses. Sometimes they’ve done both. Let’s start by taking a quick look at some of the artists that have produced soundtracks for the more high-end, graphically demanding video games in recent years. Here are some examples of soundtracks made by the most prominent music artists:

  • P!nk & Eminem. In 2010, these two stars collaborated to make the ‘Won’t Back Down’ soundtrack in the iconic Call of Duty: Black Ops game
  • Paul McCartney [Experience]. He also wrote a song called Hope for the Future in 2014. You can listen to it in the Destiny game.
  • Katy Perry. She released a song called Immortal Flamingo in 2018 which was used to soundtrack the Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius.
  • Ariana Grande. Touch It, her song for Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius was also recorded by Ariana Grande.

Other honorable mentions

There are many other examples. We will likely see more stars creating soundtracks for videogames in the future. You may be familiar with Imagine Dragons, an American pop band, and Skrillex, the American music producer and DJ, who created the Kingdom Hearts song Face My Fears.

Florence + The Machine created a trio song for Final Fantasy XV. These were Too Much is Never Enough and I Will Be. Scottish pop group Chvrches provided the Death Stranding music for the game’s namesake. The soundtrack for the Final Fantasy XV game was composed by Florence + The Machine. online casino industry has evolved and innovated in recent years by adding cutting-edge live dealer games with actual dealers and immersive virtual bonus rounds, they have yet to incorporate any music artists’ songs into any of their games.

What artists have performed in the Metaverse?

A growing trend in recent years has been the appearance of certain musicians in the metaverses as hosts for concerts. One example is Travis Scott, who appeared in the Metaverse to host a Fortnite concert. Ariana GrandeThe game’s hugely popular virtual concert featured a live performance by, as well as David Guetta. Roblox game has David Guetta and Justin Bieber have appeared on stage.

You’ve also experienced the Foo Fighters VR Meta performance also includes Marshmello in Fortnite, Soccer Mommy in Roblox, Young Thug In Horizon Venues, Daler Mehndi In Somnium Space VR. Post Malone (in Horizon World, just to name a few).

Why are artists allowed to work in video games and in the Metaverse?

It has been said on numerous occasions that having famous voices from today’s biggest musical talents can bring about a strong sense of nostalgia and add an extra layer of comfort for the players to feel more settled. It helps the players have a much stronger connection with the game, especially when they hear some of their favorite artists’ music playing along in the background as they play certain games.

Sound effects and music have been an integral part of videogames since the beginning. It looks like musicians who create soundtracks for these games will continue doing so in the future. They will continue to be a big part of video game entertainment. The players seem to love it and have also expressed positive feedback regarding the ability to listen to specific artists.
