The Order: 1886 has a compelling story to tell
The Order: 1886 Places the gamer in an alternate history 1886 London. Major conflict and chaos are bubbling in the city. This is evident on the surface as there are government rebellions, nightmarish serial killings, and below the surface as there is a power struggle within a secret organization. The Knights of the Round Table, also known by “The Order”, were founded by King Arthur. They are charged with maintaining balance in the world and protecting mankind from mythical creatures like vampires and werewolves.
The Order: 1886 Follow Sir Galahad, a loyal, stoic member of The Order. Galahad decides to take matters into his own hands after becoming suspicious about activities that involved a link between half-breeds and rebel government officials. This leads to a twist that reveals The Order. Galahad discovers a conspiracy involving vampires and werewolves hidden among The Order’s established ranks. Galahad is arrested and charged with treason during an attempt to uncover this conspiracy.
Galahad executes the disguised werewolf. He has revealed the plot to his trusted mentor, and was banished from London as he fled from prison and certain death. Galahad later appears in London, still defiantly overlooking the martial law-enforced city. This scene is the beginning of a sequel with a lot of material.
The Order: 1886’s Sequel Could Basically Read Itself
The basic premise of a sequel The Order The story could center around Sir Galahad being still in London and trying to clear his name while avoiding being captured by his former Knights. His motivation could be to expose the conspiracy surrounding Lord Hastings (a high-ranking Order member who turned out to actually be a vampire hiding plain sight). You can learn more about Hastings and the motivations behind his actions in relation to The Order. He is a perfect focus because he was also revealed to be the serial killer Jack the Ripper.
A time jump back to the past could be a huge benefit for the sequel. The game’s history could be expanded by including King Arthur, the founder of The Order, as well as how he discovered blackwater (a magical liquid that increases life-span and heals). Blackwater may play a part in time jumping to future. This would show how The Order evolved while hunting Galahad into the 21st Century. Galahad was assisted by Nikola Tesla, his trusted friend. His state-of-the art technology and weaponry in London today has great narrative potential.
Although it has been more than seven years since its original release, Sony would greatly benefit if there was a continuation. The Order: 1886‘s unique story. Ready at Dawn can pick up from where it left off by telling an alternate historical story that is rich in world-building. It would be an injustice not to continue Sir Galahad’s personal journey as well as his fallout with The Order.
