“I felt our game improved once we got past the penalties in the first half, which took some of our top players out of play,” Lindy Ruff stated. “We frustrated them, got some big saves when they needed them, but to come from being down 2-nothing we found a way of tying it up and winning it in overtime.
Goals by Jack Hughes Miles Wood The game was tied at two. This scoreline held through the third period.
After the tie was broken by no means, overtime was necessary to end the game. Jack Hughes’ 33rd season win sealed the deal just 20 seconds into overtime.
Wood post-game said, “Jack has been playing outstanding all year,” and that for him to be able to win big like that at the final, is just insane. He has 33 goals this season, and he is a major part of the team. It was great to win.”
Vanecek was busy to win his ninth consecutive victory, making 32 saves on 35 shots.
“It’s really lovely, you know. He said, referring to himself as the third person, “I’m really proud Of The Vitek.” “I wish he keeps going, and that the team does what they do.”
The Devils enter their All-Star break in Dallas with a huge win and are now comfortably in the playoffs.
Wood said that this is something new to him. “In our playoff year (2018), when we were trying to scrape it out all the time until the end, it makes it a little easier to enjoy the break.”
