Egg Hunt 2023
April 1, 8 and 10, 10 a.m.-2: p.m.
The annual Easter egg hunt is held at the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum. Children aged two to 12 can hunt for eggs around the museum’s walled garden and have their photos taken with the Easter Bunny on the first two Saturdays of April. Children under 12 years old cannot receive baskets and admission to the museum is $10. Adults are free if they are accompanied by children. Register here to attend the event.

Join the Van Cortlandt Park’s rangers for fun and informative campfire cooking lesson to discover useful tips and tricks about cooking outdoors. You’ll be amazed at the variety of outdoor cooking methods you can learn, as well as how they can help you survive in nature.
Discovery Hike: Marvelous Mosses

Take a walk with the park rangers to learn more about moss. These unique and often overlooked species of plants will be revealed to their true beauty.
Children Week: Nature Puppet Show

Van Cortlandt Park is the perfect place to bring your children for Kids Week. Children and families are welcome to the park to view some interactive and educational nature-themed puppet shows when they’ll earn more about the variety of animals that can be found in the park.
Children Week: Stories by The Campfire
April 14, 2013, 1 p.m.-2: p.m.
Families and children are invited to come together around the campfire to enjoy an afternoon of story-telling at Van Cortlandt Park’s Nature Center. The children will have the opportunity to meet and socialize while they learn about the park as well as being entertained.

Arthur Avenue Comedy: Fordham Stand-Up Wednesday

This hilarious stand-up comedy show is sure to entertain you with laughter and fun. Every Wednesday, Clinton Hall hosts top comedians from TV networks, comedy clubs and other television shows. Academy Awards Film Fest: “Belfast”

Adult library patrons are invited to view a feature film every Saturday from April through May at the City Island Library. The library’s Academy Awards Film Fest kicks off with “Belfast,” a movie that follows a working class Irish family and their young son’s childhood during the Northern Ireland conflict of the late 1960s.

Enjoy an afternoon of entertainment watching “A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood” at the City Island Library. Starring Tom Hanks. This movie stars Lloyd Vogel, an investigative reporter who profiles the famous TV host Mr. Rogers. Vogel and Rogers develop a strong relationship which helps Vogel see the goodness in others.

Seed Bomb Making for Kids Week

Led by the park’s rangers, this event will encourage kids to experience nature in a hands-on and fun way. The park’s rangers will lead the children in making seed bombs to teach them about wildflowers and their importance for pollinators.

Winter Workspace: Open Studios

Wave Hill visitors are encouraged to engage with artists taking advantage of the garden’s Winter Workspace, where artists have access to free studio space to experiment with art and nature. During this open studios event, visitors of all ages will be able to meet the artists participating in the program and see what they’ve been working on. Registering is encouraged but not mandatory.
Family Art Project: Clothe Your Vision
April 1-2, 10 am.-1 pm.
Learn how to transform a plain T shirt into a colorful garment with naturally-inspired plant dyes. Visit Wave Hill’s Kerlin Learning Center to discover a lovely palette of vibrant, spring hues from blooming flowers like lilacs and chrysanthemums. Families will be able tie-dye clothing using these colors as inspiration.
Rainbow Passage: Family Art Project

Through arts and crafts, explore the rainbow colors! To learn more about light and make their own window hangings, kids will be using transparent materials.

April Film Screening: Page to Screen

The Bronx Library Center will be screening the film “The War of the Worlds,” based on the book by H. G. Wells. The film follows scientists Clayton Forrester (the protagonist) and Sylvia Van Buren (the heroine), who arrive first at the scene of a meteorite collision. When an alien war machine emerges from the crash site and begins killing people at random, the protagonists manage to get a sample of an alien’s blood, hoping to discover their weakness and defeat them before they destroy the world.

Titled the Dominican Republic’s queen of Afro-Caribbean fusion, Xiomara Fortuna will be performing live at Hostos Center’s Main Theater. A sonic fusion of traditional Caribbean music with rock and hip-hop, jazz merengue, bachatas, funk, reggae, and other genres will be available from Xiomara Fortuna, an artist with more than 40 years of visionary artistic achievement.
