Gucci will partner with NFT community Bored Ape Yacht Club for a new metaverse project that builds upon past projects. It harnesses fictional characters to engage and reward fans. This time, fans will be able to purchase physical Gucci gear.
Gucci announced today that it will be in Otherside. This is the virtual world created by Yuga Labs and which features a variety of game-like, NFT-based creatures called Kodas. Ape and Mutant Ape NFT Holders had first dibs on digital plots of land in Otherside via ApeCoin, a native cryptocurrency.
Gucci’s project Otherside: Relics By Gucci will become available on April 6th. It includes a limited-edition, phygital Gucci-branded pendant called the KodaPendant. This pendant is sold at 450 APE (about $1,800). This storyline is a continuation of one already being told. Otherside’s Twitter accountIt is centered around blue carved flasks which are made into pendants. To be eligible to purchase a digital pendant of your choice, you must complete a series or tasks. There are only 3,333 of them. After the purchase, the story continues with pendants generating traits which unlock new features in Otherside and access to a physical counterpart, a GG-eyed Koda sterling pendant.
Otherside, which is still in early testing, is only available to people who hold “Otherdeeds”, the term for the virtual Otherside real estate. Projects like this have in the past required multiple tokens to be owned and could require completion of different tasks or achievement other thresholds.
