Although he couldn’t give much more information, he confirmed that the product isn’t the PlayStation 5 Pro but will be released before it. Henderson indicated that the unannounced new product will surprise many, saying, “When the new hardware is announced, it’s going be very interesting for us to see how the competition views it.” But he could not give any further information except to say that there hasn’t been any reports on the new hardware.
It is hard to say what the new PlayStation hardware could be. However, some believe it could be the PlayStation Vita 2 (or a similar handheld device). There are rumors of a new Sony handheld. There were rumors that the PlayStation 5 Slim might be coming out, but these were quickly discredited and Henderson’s comments suggest that this new product is not what people are expecting. Although virtual reality is possible, the PlayStation VR2’s recent release seems to have ruled out any other products. Sony could also be developing a new controller, or another peripheral.
