Persona 5 Strikers describes jails as the new palace-like locations in the Metaverse that you will be visiting in every city on your summer road trip. Jails can be large and you will often explore entire cities before reaching the Jail’s central building.
You can return to your previous jails, unlike the original Persona 5. This is a major change from the original Persona 5. Each Jail is unique. It reflects the owner’s mentality.
8 Okinawa Jail
The Okinawa prison was much more concerned with storytelling than its exterior. The Jail has a lot more to offer than just corridors and interrogation areas. There are also a few storage warehouses that house containers. This jail is also shorter and does not have a monarch at the end.
The Okinawa jail doesn’t provide direct answers to all of the questions you asked earlier in the games, but it does prepare you for many more surprises that will come later. Although the Jail is quite bland, the scenes before you enter it, where the entire island hunts you down, were the most thrilling part of Okinawa.
7 Kyoto Jail
Another jail, the Kyoto jail, was more about storytelling than looks. The jail focuses heavily on simple paths that lead to a portal puzzle. Instead of relying solely on the mini-map, you can guess which path is correct.
Akane, the ruler, was an interesting plot point. Zenkichi’s awakening was among the best in Persona 5 Universe. There were a few boss fights in this Jail that had to be cleared before Akane could reach it. These boss fights became more tedious than necessary, making the experience more boring than entertaining.
6 Jail Of The Abyss
The Jail of The Abyss echoes many of the Mementos palace from Persona 5. They are almost identical in appearance.
Although this Jail can be repetitive once you’ve been knocked to the bottom and must climb back up, the variety of enemies and more difficult fights make it feel more exciting than the others on the list. The Jail also includes Ichinose’s reveal, which answers many of the questions that players have about the story.
5 Tree Of Knowledge
The Tree Of Knowledge, the final Jail technically in existence in the real world while the Metaverse is bleeding out, is the Tree Of Knowledge. Although the first floors appear simple, the upper floors take on futuristic technology themes to match the AI-inspired storyline and final boss.
This Jail is a departure from the norm. It doesn’t need keys to unlock. You simply have to climb the tower and fight your way up to the top. You’ll encounter several mini-bosses on the way. There will also be a few survival fights that are horde-style and will put you to the test before reaching the final boss.
4 Sapporo Jail
The Sapporo Jail reflects the city’s ice theme, and not just the architecture. One point in the Jail’s history, there is a blizzard that forces you to use space heaters to move around and to clear it. You also need to use ice block puzzles for access to the main building.
You will also find a few mini-bosses in this palace. These are more challenging than the normal battle system and can be difficult to defeat. One point forces you to battle two bosses simultaneously. You must manage their weaknesses while also trying to maximize your SP.
3 Sendai Jail
Sendai’s Jail is based on the Prince of Nightmares game book. Yusuke has been reading the book several times before and is giving clues about the solutions to the puzzles. The Jail has a medieval Gothic design and one of the most interesting themes to a palace.
You’ll be fighting the Fearsome Four mini-bosses through the Jail. This is straight from the book. Joker is also allowed to speak as the hero of this story. This leads to hilarious conversations between the Phantom Thieves.
2 Osaka Jail
Osaka’s Jail features a futuristic theme. Its upper areas are filled with vibrant colors and futuristic tech, which act as puzzles. The palace also contains a section that reveals Akira’s thoughts about EMMA and other Monarchs. This sets the scene for him to be central figure in the game’s events.
You have the ability to shoot rail guns in the Jail, which is full of futuristic technology. They are powerful, but also very fun to use. The final boss fight between Akira and you is one of the most dramatic in the game. He will fight you in a mech suit, then use a lightsaber-like weapon, in an outfit straight from anime.
1 Shibuya Jail
You’ll be first in Shibuya jail. This is where you will learn all about the new mechanics. This jail’s Alice In Wonderland theme makes it unique. It allows you to fight in familiar locations around Shibuya.
The cinematic moments that make this palace the best are also what makes it so special. Alice’s calling cards and the scene of the Phantom Thieves entering the palace were a great return to form. This got players excited for the sequel of this fantastic game.
