SAINT PAUL (Minn.) Bill Guerin, Minnesota Wild General Manager announced today that the National Hockey League club has signed defenseman Brock Faber He will be signing a three-year entry-level contract, beginning with the 2022-23 seasons. He will be joining the Wild today to travel with the team all the way to Chicago.
Faber (20), scored 27 points (4-23-22/02), 12 penalties minutes (PIM), and had a plus 29 rating. Faber also served as the captain of the team during the 2022-23 seasons. Maple Grove, Minn.’s 6-foot-1, 200-pound Faber was a 2022-23 AHCA/CCM Hockey All-America West First Team Honoree. He was a two-time Big Ten Defensive player of the year recipient (2021-22 and 22-23 seasons), a second-team All-Big Ten selection (22-23, 22-23 seasons), and a second-team Academic All-Big Ten choice (2021-22, 23-23 seasons). Faber was instrumental in helping the Golden Gophers win two Big Ten Regular-Season Championships (221-22, 22-23 seasons) and three NCAA Tournament berths (22-23, 2021-22, 2022-23). Right-shot blueliner Faber finished his college career with 53 points (746=53), 38 point-in-game (PIM) and 130 blocked shots. He played in 97 games for the University of Minnesota (2020–23). He also represented the United States in the 2022 Winter Olympics.
Faber had previously played with the Golden Gophers and recorded 19 points (5-15=19), 2 game-winning goals, (GWG) as well as 43 shots on goal in 54 career contests in the U.S. National Team Development Program (USHL) over two seasons (2018-20). Faber was elected captain of the U.S. National Junior Team in the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championships. He also won a gold medal at the U.S. National Junior Team’s 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship. Faber also won a Gold Medal at the 2019 Five Nations Tournament as well as a Silver Medal at 2020 Five Nations Tournament. Faber also earned a silver and bronze medals with the U.S. National Under-17 Teams at the 2018 Under-18 Four Nations Tournament. The 2020 NHL Draft saw Faber selected by the Los Angeles Kings as a second round selection (45th overall). Los Angeles gave Faber and a 2022 NHL Draft first-round pick to the Wild in exchange of forward Kevin Fiala. Faber will be wearing sweater number. 7 with Wild
