Statista stated that in January 2023 more than 74% desktops were Windows. Although many of these computers are designed for work, there are millions that were most likely built with gamers in mind. Windows makes connecting Xbox Controllers to Windows PCs easy.
You can do this in several ways. With the Xbox Wireless Adapter you can connect up to 8 controllers at once. Users only need to plug the USB adapter into their PCs and pair the controller. The PC will need to install some files at first, but this shouldn’t be too long after inserting the Xbox adapter. Hold down the Xbox USB adapter’s pairing button until the LED begins flashing. Then, press the Xbox controller’s pairing button.
You can also use a USB cable to connect your controller directly to the PC. The USB Type-C connector is required for newer Core Controllers. However, older controllers can still be connected using micro-USB.
Bluetooth is also available on some Xbox Wireless Controllers (bundled Xbox Series X or S controllers by default). In this case, simply press and hold the Pair button on the controller until the Xbox light starts blinking, then enter “Bluetooth & Devices” from the Settings menu on Windows 11 (Bluetooth from the Devices settings menu on Window 10). From there, click “Add a Device” and the controller will be paired using Bluetooth.
