Penn State Beaver made its way to Showers Field in the second half of their home-and-home, and played a doubleheader there on Saturday. The Nittany Lions scored early and often to win two more games in PSUAC. DuBois, after a scoreless opening inning of game one in which they did not score a run, scored 10 runs at the bottom half of the second to gain a significant lead. Tylor Herzing was a star offensive player, scoring two times and driving in 4 RBIs from 2 hits, including a triple. DuBois won game one with a final score 22-2. Penn State DuBois finished the four game series with Penn State Beaver in a win of 11-0. Brandon Sicheri was two-for-two in game two. He also hit a solo homer in the bottom of third inning. Christian Hopp won the game for the Nittany Lions after pitching four innings and allowing just one hit. He also struck out four.
Penn State DuBois concluded the week by visiting Westminster to play a single nine-inning match, which they beat by a score of 4-2 in the end. With this win, the Nittany Lions’ record stands at 17-12 on the season, including an 11-5 conference mark.
The baseball and softball team will be returning to action on the weekend. Softball will see the Lady Lions travel to Penn State Beaver to play a doubleheader on Saturday. The first match is scheduled for 2 p.m. On Sunday, the team will travel to Penn State New Kensington to play another doubleheader, with the first game scheduled to start at 2 p.m. The Nittany Lions, on the other hand, will be playing another home and away series with Penn State New Kensington. Penn State DuBois travels to Penn State New Kensington Saturday for a two-game series. The first game will begin at 2 pm. On Sunday, New Kensington travels to DuBois for a doubleheader. Game one will begin at 1 pm. It will be senior day on Sunday. The Nittany Lions are then scheduled to travel on Tuesday to Clarion University to play a single match that will start at 4 pm.
