Rumors began to circulate just last month. FromSoftware had been working on an “unannounced project” since 2022, but it seems like those hopes were for nothing. LinkedIn has changed the original profile which mentioned the unannounced project to the upcoming game. Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree instead.
Why does it take so long to download the Elden Ring DLC?
The Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has been in development since April 2022 according to Lead Game Designer Kenneth Chan’s LinkedIn profile, spotted by @Ziostorm1 on Twitter. Rumors suggest that the expansion is large and is the likely reason for the developer’s slow pace.
FromSoftware only confirmed that the DLC is an expansion for the Lands Between. The rumors claiming to have trailers, story information and gameplay details were false.
Developer has not yet revealed a date for release or a window of release, but it is expected that this will be sometime after Armored Core 6’s release this year. What is more certain, though, is that FromSoftware’s attention is currently divided between this DLC and Armored Core 6, and there is no other game in development.
