Playstation VR2 is the next-generation of VR systems. Accordingly, accessories for the PS5 may be costly. These are difficult times.
Playstation VR is almost complete. We know all about the specs and the design, and the VR headset will be launched in In the early 2023.
One thing remains a mystery. It is unknown what the Playstation VR 2 will cost, although it is expected that it will be sold with the new Sense controllers.
There are many speculations about the price. Although estimates vary, there is consensus that Playstation VR 2 will be at least $199. Luxurious accessory.
The world is currently in an emergency
It is highly unlikely that a PS5 accessory would cost more than the Playstation 5 in normal circumstances. Unfortunately, Normal circumstances don’t prevail at the moment.
Inflation, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the effects of the pandemic have all had a devastating effect on the global economy. This is especially true for the tech supply chain. Sony raised the Playstation 5 price in many countries. How would the price pressure for an accessory such as Playstation VR 2 look if Sony had to increase the Playstation 5’s cost?
The Meta Quest 2’s price also increased. A whopping $100. In August, the basic model for the VR headset is now available at $400, rather than $300. The reasons for this are the same: higher inflation and higher production costs.
The price of next-gen features is not too high
Playstation VR 2 is going to be expensive, according to me At least $500 – if not more.
It’s true that unlike Meta Quest 2, Sony’s VR headset doesn’t require an SoC or battery, and costs less in that area. Playstation VR 2 comes with other high-end tech that Meta Quest 2 doesn’t have: an OLED display of superior quality, eye-tracking and headset haptics. These features are not available in any mainstream headset.
Meta sells Casual VR while Sony’s next-generation premium virtual reality (VR) is now available. These are two completely different devices and the price should reflect that.
Sony could reduce the price or take losses to ensure that Playstation VR 2 is a popular console. However, is this possible considering the current economic environment, increasing pressure from Microsoft and the fact virtual reality is still a niche product that is unlikely to make a rapid breakthrough?
It was also not inexpensive to buy Playstation VR
Even the first Playstation VR wasn’t cheap, although its technology – unlike PSVR2 – was already partially outdated compared to other VR headsets from 2016 when it was launched. The VR headset itself cost “only” $399, but it lacked a PS camera and Move controllers, which you had to buy if you didn’t already own them. In 2017, a complete VR package appeared in the US – for $499.
For the life of me, I can’t imagine that the Playstation VR 2 with cutting-edge technology and brand-new VR controllers will Cost less than $500. It is possible that the cost of the product will drop later. Sony just about dumped the PSVR 1 towards the end of its lifespan. The price evolution will depend on demand, so it remains to see.
The The total package for PS5 and PSVR 5, could cost around $1,000. That wouldn’t surprise me. VR is expensive. This is especially true in these times.
