It’s been a year since the large-scale multiplayer shooter Battlefield 2042 Released, but was hampered by a difficult launch period. Initial criticisms of the game’s technical performance and controversial changes to player progression led to a rapidly declining playerbase. New series lead Vince Zampella even stated the game had ‘strayed a little too far from what Battlefield is’.
Since then, developer DICE has been responding to community feedback and diligently updating and balancing the game, with now countless changes employed in an attempt to gradually bring the game – and the reputation of the series – back to its former glory.
One year later, we’re not seeing a new Battlefield We are not playing the same game we used to, but instead Battlefield 2042 Season 3 will be the start of Season 2, which will introduce new features, balance changes and reworked map designs to the game. It also comes with a major push to reach new audiences.

The game will also be available for free on Xbox, PC, and Playstation (from 1-4 to 05 December) where anyone can download the full game.
Titled EscalationSeason 3 Battlefield 2042 DICE says that the conference will be focusing on ground warfare. It’s headlined by a new map called Spearhead, the first to be set in Sweden. The action takes place in dense wilderness and extremely rocky terrain. There are also two weapons manufacturing plants that will be used as battlegrounds.
Battlefield 2042 A rework of the unpopular Specialist system will be included in Season 3. The mechanic will move to a class-based system, with each class receiving initial access to specific weapons, proficiencies, and class gadgets – for example, Recon classes will immediately be able to hold their breath to line up shots.
Rasheed Zain, an Egyptian double-amputee, will be the new assault specialist. He uses his XM370A Airburst gun to push enemies out of cover. After each enemy kill, his health recharges.
The Rorsch MK-4 Railgun, NVK S22 smartshotgun, NVK P125 semi auto sidearm and throwing knives are some of the new weapons. The new vehicle, the EMKV90TOR tank, is equipped with a railgun as well as siege mode functionality.
Major revisions to existing maps, Manifest & Breakaway, will also be done this Season. These include bringing objective flags closer together in order to improve match dynamics and updating cover, visibility, visuals, and visuals.
This will just be the beginning of the game’s reworking, says DICE, with more design changes coming in the future to help pave over the game’s perceived gaps.
