Don’t play Destiny 2’s PlayStation 4 edition on PlayStation 5! Bungie will be very disappointed.
Bungie, the studio behind Destiny 2, has urged PlayStation 5 users to make sure they’re playing the right version for the best PlayStation experience.
Bungie claimed that they have seen a “remarkable number” of PS5 gamers playing Destiny 2’s PS4 version on their current-generation consoles. Bungie stated that players should upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version to get the best possible experience. This will result in a significant improvement in graphics and frame rates.
PlayStation released a software upgrade earlier in the year that made it easier for users to check which version of a particular game they are playing on the PlayStation 5. The latest firmware will have a symbol beside each of the installed games that states whether it is ‘PS4 or ‘PS5’. The official PlayStation website has instructions for how to upgrade to the most current version of Destiny 2 if you’re playing on the PlayStation 4 version.
The latest blog post urged Destiny 2 players not to play the wrong version. It also revealed that a new Dungeon would be arriving on Season 19. Bungie announced that the new Dungeon will be released on December 9 at 9AM PDT. Moreover, while the studio was discussing consoles it also revealed that texture changes were made to consoles of previous generations, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One and Xbox One X.
According to reports, the modification of textures on consoles from previous generations is intended to “reduce their memory footprint while minimizing quality degradation.” The complete blog post, with images of the texture modifications on the previous generation consoles can be found in the latest issue of ‘This Week At Bungie.
