The announcement of the Goldeneye was met with confusion by Microsoft, who made a similar announcement yesterday at the Nintendo Direct. What we know is that the classic first-person shooter Goldeneye 007 will be coming to both Nintendo Switch and Xbox—in the latter case via Xbox Game Pass.
We also know the Xbox version will have a remaster The game supports 4K resolution. It will not support online multiplayer. The online multiplayer feature will only be available to Nintendo Switch users. It will be the first time that the game has been made available online. Xbox players will still be able to enjoy local multiplayer for up to four players—which was one of the things that made the original Goldeneye This was a great experience.
This will hopefully help to clarify any confusion.
- Xbox Live! Goldeneye 007, a totally different and remastered version, will be available via Game Pass. It will also include local multiplayer, just like in the original game.
- Version Switch This will be a rerelease of the original game, with exclusive online multiplayer.

It wasn’t a coincidence that Microsoft as well as Nintendo unveiled their versions of this game simultaneously. Perhaps they were trying to steal one another’s thunder? The game will “coming soon”, although no release date has been announced.
