- Disney+ Plus South Africa has confirmed that the Xbox version is coming to South Africa in the next week.
- The app will work on Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox Series S.
- It is not known if a PlayStation version will be available at this point.
We have waited eagerly for the local release of Disney+ on the Xbox One and PlayStation One consoles ever since the launch of Disney+ in South Africa on May 18th.
You can finally relax, but only if your Xbox console is connected. The streaming app will be available for Xbox consoles starting September 29th, as a result of Comic Con Africa 2022, which is currently taking place in South Africa.
The company confirmed in a press release sent to Hypertext that the console version of the app would be supported on the vast majority of Xbox consoles – namely the Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox Series X|S.
“Today, Disney+, the streaming service from The Walt Disney Company, announced that the streaming app will be incorporated onto Xbox consoles from 29 September 2022 in South Africa,” the press release explained.
“Users will have access to high-quality viewing, up to four concurrent streams, unlimited downloads on up to ten devices, and the ability to set up to seven different profiles, including the ability for parents to set a PIN to access age-appropriate content,” it adds.
As of this writing, there are no details on whether PlayStation consoles will receive the same streaming app. We have reached out Disney+ South Africa about the matter and will share any feedback we get.
It seems that Xbox owners are ahead of their PlayStation counterparts in streaming apps for the moment. The wait for the latter should not take too much longer, we hope.
