Google Has Begun Issuing Stadia Refunds

  With Stadia’s <a href="https://www.gameinformer.com/2022/09/29/stadia-will-close-in-january-google-issuing-refunds-for-all-hardware-and-software" target="_blank" rel="noopener">impending shutdown</a> in January, Google has begun fulfilling its promise of issuing refunds to its customers. The process started yesterday,&nbsp;and Google has posted an <a href="https://support.google.com/stadia/answer/12790109#zippy=%2Cq-how-will-my-stadia-store-refunds-be-processed%2Cq-how-and-when-will-i-be-notified-about-my-refund%2Cq-will-i-receive-a-refund-even-if-ive-deleted-my-google-account%2Cq-when-will-i-receive-my-refund%2Cq-will-i-get-a-refund-what-is-available-for-a-refund%2Cq-will-i-get-a-refund-for-purchases-of-in-game-currency-made-through-the-stadia-store" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FAQ</a> breaking down how the refund process works.&nbsp;

As previously announced, Google is refunding all software purchases through the Stadia Store (such as games, DLC, in-game currency, and current pre-orders) and hardware purchases made through the Google Store; physical store purchases cannot be refunded. Hardware eligible includes:

• Stadia Controller
• Founder’s Edition
• Premiere Edition
• Google TV packages available to play and watch

Stadia Pro subscriptions won’t be refunded. Members can still use their Pro titles until the shutdown. The money will be returned to those who paid for a subscription after September 29, 2022. 

All refunds will be made to the payment method used to purchase the item. If that account is no longer available, Google will send an email with instructions for setting up an alternative method of receiving the refund.

You may have received an email advising you of your refund status. Although payments are now being issued, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get yours today or this week. The gradual rollout will continue until January 18. There’s no way of knowing when you’ll receive your refund, so eligible users should keep an eye on their inbox and bank account over the coming days or weeks.
