The Xbox homepage will see a major redesign in the coming year. A selection of Xbox Insiders from Alpha Skip-Ahead have had a chance to view some of the changes. Microsoft intends to make the space more personal and customizable for its users and will adjust the design based upon fan feedback and trends.
Ivy Krislov (senior product manager, Xbox experiences), stated that the Xbox homepage was where most gamers spend their time. “We know that we can always listen and learn how we can make the site better, while still keeping the user experience simple and familiar. This is why we are launching a multimonth series of experiments to discover how to personalize the home screen and address fan and top trends.
Krislov says that testers will be able see the new layout and quality of life changes to make it easier to access apps and games. You can expect to see important system icons, visual identifiers, a consistent design, and a “jump back into” function that will provide quick access to your most recent games and apps.
Microsoft has made many improvements to the Xbox interface in recent months. The consoles now go from a cold boot to active in just 15 seconds thanks to a shorter bootup animation sequence, and another handy feature in development adds additional warning badges to the My Games & Apps section of the console, which will notify users if they don’t have a license or a disc for a game before they play it.
Sony also has added helpful features to the PS5’s user interface, including game folders and 1440 HDMI video output.
