NordVPN, one the world’s leading VPN platforms, has just released a brilliant new feature called Meshnet.
Powered by NordLynx – NordVPN’s flagship WireGuard-based technology – Meshnet lets you access up to 60 devices over encrypted private tunnels.
Confused?
It’s okay. It’s okay to admit it.
Half an hour ago, we didn’t understand this news either. But we’ve done the research and we’re ready to tell you why Meshnet is a big deal if you’re into collaborative working, file-sharing, and – most important of all – playing games with your friends.
Meshnet provides all the privacy benefits of VPNs, including data encryption. It connects to your computer via a network or computer rather than to a large anonymous server in Belgium.
This allows you to create a LAN – local area network – over enormous distances, with all of the connected machines behaving as though they’re connected to the same wi-fi network.
In case you’ve never participated in one, LAN parties are great. You can enjoy multiplayer gaming in a secure, intimate virtual setting away from the endless expanse of the internet. You can also share files with friends.
Meshnet allows you to share your IP addresses with others, opening the door to game features, servers and more.
Meshnet is a way to access your desktop computer wherever you are in the world. You can add upto ten additional devices and 50 external devices through invitations to other users.
It’s simple to use, too. You only need to create an account on the NordVPN app and enable Meshnet for the devices you wish to connect. Then, you can send invitations. Each device will be assigned a unique Nord name or IP address. There’s even a VPN free trial to take advantage of.
