Microsoft provides a large list of compatible backward games that allows people to play classic games on modern consoles. This technology doesn’t allow you to play the same old games. Many games receive a graphics boost, a higher frame rate and faster loading times. Although the feature is impressive, we would like to know how many people use Xbox backward compatibility.
Backward compatibility was introduced in 2015 and allowed you to play Xbox 360 titles on your Xbox One. Microsoft has been committed to expanding the number of older games that are compatible with newer Xbox consoles. Microsoft continued to work on its Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, which both support backward compatibility.
The announcement of Xbox Game Pass’ GoldenEye007 was one the most important news stories of this week. Although that title won’t be coming to consoles via Xbox backward compatibility it did spark a conversation about old games running on new hardware.
We’d love to hear how many classic games you enjoy, especially with such a beloved title from the 90s now available on modern systems. Xbox backward compatibility allows for hundreds of titles. However, are these numbers really important or are they just an illusion? Are you still playing old-school games often? In this week’s poll, let us know your thoughts.
After voting in the poll, make sure to hop on over to our official Discord channel to discuss classic games and Xbox backward compatibility. You can find a discussion thread in our forum, along with several chats and channels. You can also reach me on Twitter if you prefer. If you are interested in playing GoldenEye 007, please let us know. Although the game changed first-person shooters forever, it’s not likely that everyone will be able to play it in 2022.
