A Netflix documentary and a metaverse game are just two examples of how the celebrations of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar, have reminded us that soccer is the most loved sport in the world. Great players earn top-tier salaries. But who are the richest?
Stacker compiled networth data and life and career insights using data from Celebrity Net Worth, ESPN and other sources. The data was based on data from Celebrity Net Worth. Data points include net wealth, salary, age and nationality. Dave Whelan, for example, has a considerable net worth that is not directly related to playing soccer. Some players went on to manage after leaving the pitch.
The top-ranked players are mainly from the top leagues or teams, such as those in France, Spain, Germany and Italy. These top players are paid the most by the top teams, such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Milan and Manchester United.
