Each month, the VGChartz sales series of articles is updated. Each article focuses on a different comparison using our estimated video-game hardware figures. These charts compare the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, as well as with older platforms. These articles are based on our global estimates as well as those from the US, Europe and Japan.
This monthly series examines the US sales of the Nintendo Switch compared to the Xbox 360.
The Xbox 360 was launched in the US in November 2005. The Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. The holiday periods for both consoles are not the same, so there are large increases and decreases.

October 2022 marks the 68th month the Nintendo Switch is available in the US. In the last month, the Xbox 360 sold 41,932 more units than the Nintendo Switch.
The Xbox 360 outsold Nintendo Switch in the last 12 month by 1,287 5,537 units. Current sales of the Switch are 9.95 million more than that of the Xbox 360.
The Nintendo Switch’s 68th month is October 2022, while the Xbox 360’s is June 2011. The Switch sold 37.38M units while the Xbox 360 sold 27.43M units in the same period. In month 85, the Xbox 360 sold Switch current sales.
In the US, the Xbox 360 sold 43.75 millions units during its lifetime. To outsell the Xbox 360, The Switch will need to sell an additional 6.37 Million units.
