This year has been another record-breaking year for video games. AAA exclusives and indie favorites have set new standards for quality. The PlayStation library has grown with these new titles. From rich remakes to original titles, we have rounded up the best of them according to Metacritic’s critical numbers.
2022 has been bookended by two of Sony’s strongest console-exclusive games, Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok, while the months between have also seen a massive shift towards releasing older first-party games on PC. PC gamers have been able to obtain Spider-Man, God of War Ragnarok, and Uncharted games that were enhanced for that system, thanks to Nixxes.
The list of new releases includes a number of strong third-party titles, which cover a wide variety of themes and genres. Some have been wonderfully weird, others have been iterative updates, and we’ve seen some fantastic retro compilations launch this year.
This list includes both PS5 and PS4 titles. This year’s cross-gen approach has resulted in a more cohesive list of top-scoring titles. These games are ranked from highest Metascore up to lowest.
