2022 has been a great year for PC gamers. Total War Warhammer 3 filled a niche for both Total War fans and Warhammer lovers. Monster Hunter Rise launched on PC early in the year. This was followed by the amazing and brilliant Sunbreak expansion. Elden Ring also stunned the industry with its breathtaking landscapes and challenging combat. Gamers are always looking for more though and of course as the year begins to float towards the holidays can we expect the same quality we’ve had year round so far? We can only hope. Here are our picks for the The top 10 most popular PC games released before 2022.
6 years ago, Overwatch took the gaming industry by storm. It promises to be The E-sport is a sport that brings together casual and hardcore players. Unfortunately, this had mixed results. The game was full of ups and downs. Overwatch was charming and full of potential, and Blizzard understood that.
The sequel promises to improve balancing and hopefully bring back the booming esports scene. The sequel will also feature new maps, new heroes, and you’ll even carry your progress over from Overwatch so you don’t have to worry about losing any of those fancy exclusive skins you’ve hoarded. Even better is that on release the game will be free-to-play meaning there isn’t any excuse not to give it a shot this time around.
Even if you aren’t a fan of Overwatch or a competitive FPS player, Overwatch 2 will still surely offer you something unique, fun, and engaging when it drops Oct. 4, 2022.
Slime Rancher 2
Since Monomi Park’s early free builds were posted on their forums, Slime Rancher was one of our favorite games. It was a fun, quirky, and interesting take on the farming sim genre. It made us lose hours of time. The only problem we could see was that there wasn’t enough of it.
Slime Rancher 2 is set to improve upon its predecessor. It takes places in Rainbow Island, an all-new location that’s bursting with tons to see and do. There are many new, wiggly jiggly friends to make. Outside of new slimes and areas Monomi also promises tons of new items and gadgets to play with we can’t wait until Slime Rancher 2 hits early access this fall.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
This Left 4 Dead-style coop shooter will make chaos disappear. Warhammer 40,000 Darktide is the creation of Fatshark. They released Vermintide 2 and decided to try their hand in the world of 40k. Darktide will take you into the hive to help you complete missions and eliminate the heretics. It also includes a range of melee weapons, customizable guns, and other melee weapons. If you’re a Warhammer or Left 4 Dead fan or even just someone who has the itch to purge heresy, this game will be ready for you on PC on Nov. 30.
Scorn promises to be a completely new FPS game. Focusing on horror and a unique bio-punk aesthetic that is inspired by the works of visual artists H. R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński. The game is intended to be a survival horror adventure and takes place on multiple maze-like levels.
Scorn doesn’t have any cutscenes, which is quite interesting. Instead, the developers want the game world itself to feel like a character and don’t want the player to be drawn away. Each level will have its own characters, puzzles, stories, and plots that bring the world together and reveal a larger and more complex story. This game will be featured on GamePass PC and can be found in players’ libraries by Oct. 21.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
This is not 2009, it’s 2022. It was only natural that Infinity Ward, Activision and the Remake of 2019 Modern Warfare would make a sequel after the phenomenal success of the original game. In case you’re wondering, this isn’t a remake of the original game but rather a direct follow up to 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
Activision has done an excellent job of keeping the details secret about any potential new features. Most of what we know at the moment is leaks. Modern Warfare 2019 shows that the campaign and multiplayer will deliver plenty of the fast-paced FPS action that we all love. MW2 will be released Oct. 28th.
You can also get an early sneak peak by participating in two beta tests.

Don’t be discouraged, reader. Not every game this season is action-packed and dark. This game is quite the opposite. Coral Island, with its Stardew Valley and Harvest Moon inspirations on its sleeves, looks to be the perfect after-work relaxation game. You can start a farm, make new friends, and then let your dog go and live a happy, peaceful life.
A coral reef is also found on the island, which players can help restore. You’ll also see plenty of adventure and some combat in the abandoned caves where you mine for ores and rare gems. However, this game is about you and your fellow islanders’ stories first and foremost. Coral Island will be available for early access beginning Oct. 11.
Skull and Bones
Yarrr now back to ye’ regularly scheduled list. This game almost gets a spot because pirates are awesome, let’s be real. Mix that with Ubisoft’s love for the big, cinematic, and some grog and you have yourself a top 10 contender.
This PvE or PVVvE (pirate) experience is available. You and your friends can complete contracts, craft beautiful vessels, and wage war on all landlubbers who dare to cross your path in the seas. Large naval battles, raids, fort attacks and fort defenses will provide plenty of cannon fire as well as gunpowder. To assist in this you’ll be able to customize your ship with different weaponry and armors to outmaneuver and outgun anyone standing in the way of your fortune. Start your pirate legacy by Nov. 8.
This is going to be a lot of fun. Saints Row is getting a reboot later in the year. This will bring back the quirky, eccentric gameplay that fans have grown to love, but in an entirely new setting.
The game’s developers have decided to take a step back from the neon-colored absurdity of the original and make it more grounded. However, there is still a lot to love, laughter, and chaos in this game.
You can also check out the character builder for free and see how it feels to be a crime boss. Santo Ileso is the new sandbox. It looks like it will make a great backdrop for our crime movie fever dreams, which we have on Aug. 23.
We were all a bit disappointed that Batgirl would not be coming to theatres. However, WB Games has the ability to cook this delicious meal for us. Gotham Knights follows Nightwing and Robin as they attempt to unravel the mystery surrounding Batman’s death. You’ll be able to pick whichever hero you like while resting in the hideout during the day.
During the night however, you’ll be out prowling, investigating, and beating down bad guys. Gotham Knights seems to be a great mix of dark action-RPG and a super hero murder mystery. We are confident to place this game on the top 10 list based on the gameplay footage and previews that have been released so far. Get ready for Oct. 25.
This game was revealed originally in July 2017 and has only gotten more interesting and bizarre since the trailers came out of the studio. Atomic Heart will take players to an alternate history soviet union in the 1960s, where a robot rebellion has almost destroyed everything.
Each player will be equipped with a combat glove, a variety of melee and ranged weaponry, and can choose how they want tackle each encounter. Combat will make the most of the unique environment, primarily via your combat glove which grants you pseudo-telekinetic powers.
Although there is no release date yet, the game will be available on GamePass for PC sometime in Q4.
I appreciate your time and thank you for reading. There are tons of other games coming out this year, but these 10 were the most popular. You can also check out our best Xbox games or best PlayStation games before 2022 lists.
