Walkabout Minigolf is now available as an AR mobile game

Additionally, the developer announced that it has partnered up with Meow Wolf for a mind-bending new course.

Mighty Coconut’s popular mini golf metaverse, Mini Golf at WalkaboutAn augmented reality (AR), mobile game will bring this to your smartphone. Along with other exciting announcements, the independent entertainment studio announced this news earlier in the week.

According to the official release Walkabout Mini Golf Pocket Edition Features a unique gameplay system that uses the smartphone as a putter. Instead of taping on your screen to place the ball, you move your phone gently in a natural swinging motion. The AR game is also cross-playable with users on Quest, PC VR and PS VR2, as well as Pico 4 VR headsets.

“The addition of Walkabout Mini Golf Pocket Edition These worlds are now open to anyone who wants to explore them. With the millions of visitors who come through Meow Wolf’s physical spaces, we’re welcoming in an exponential number of players in 2023 and beyond,” said Lucas Martell, executive producer and head of Mighty Coconut.

“Our goal is to be the first experience for VR/AR everywhere—and the default place to return. We want it to be as simple as possible for people who wish to give it a try. Mini Golf at Walkabout, show their friends, and spend time hanging out virtually with loved ones.”

The good news doesn’t stop there, however. Mighty Coconut has partnered with Meow Wolf, a purveyor of mind-bending immersive art installations, on a brand new course inspired by Numina, a central world located at the company’s Denver location. Co-created by Meow Wolf co-founder and senior creative director Caity Kennedy, the course will feature 18 easy mode and 18 hard mode holes, as well as 18 lost balls to collect, a “foxhunt” scavenger expedition, and a virtual, commemorative putter.

“The mechanics of virtual reality are just another set of physics for Numina to play within. Collaborating with Walkabout has given us the opportunity to encounter Numina in digital space” said Kennedy. “Meow Wolf—and Numina—are now everywhere, and we can’t wait for all of our trans-dimensional friends to discover the playful ways Numina has rearranged mini golf to mess with our minds!”
