Remember the Xbox 360 2009 game Risen? This action-RPG was very popular back when it was released for PC. The Xbox version received negative feedback due its poor portability to the console. We have a new version!

Yes, fourteen years after Risen first appeared on Xbox, the game will be back on Xbox (specifically Xbox One Series X, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S) January 24, 2023. The new version boasts a “finally running smooth” and is expected to be in full-quality on console platforms.

Here are some more details about what you can expect.

  • Port of the cult RPG, with full gamepad controls. Reworked user interface.
  • Open-world RPG with all actions having consequences
  • This book is divided into 4 chapters so you can decide which side to join.
  • More than 20 spells available, which can be cast using either runes and scrolls
  • Support for seamless streaming in the world – No loading screens
  • Your character will improve and learn with each level.
  • You can find countless side quests and creatures.
  • Immersive open-world gameplay for over 60 hours

Risen, a game you will need to “master your sword, learn the art and skill of staff fighting, or become an a skilled mage. Forge your way through a land filled by mysterious earthquakes, fearsome creatures, and unimaginable riches.”

Below are some screenshots and an official description of the new port.

“Explore Faranga, a volcanic island that is mysterious and haunting. The heavy tremors that plague its inhabitants are a warning sign. The ancient temples that have been built on top of the land are now bringing strange creatures with them. Are you up for the challenge? You might find yourself trapped in a web of rebellion, tyranny and mystic rituals. It’s up to you to decide which side the pendulum will swing in.

Are you a Risen fan? We’d love to hear about your fond memories of Risen.
