While the international regulators discuss whether or not to approve Activision Blizzard’s aquiral by Microsoft, the Redmond based executives try to ease Sony’s worries about Call of Duty. While their competition worries that Activision Blizzard will cease selling the series on their consoles, Xbox insists they intend to keep the game available across all platforms. Phil Spencer, head of the division, confirmed that Xbox Game Pass was a profitable product.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Spencer informed that the service concentrates around 15% of the revenue for Microsoft’s video game division. “I think it will stay in that 10-15% of our overall revenue, and it’s profitable for us”, said the executive. The director spoke about Call of Duty and assured that he intends to follow the same strategy as with Minecraft.
“Call of Duty specifically will be available on PlayStation. It would be great to have it available on Switch. I also love the idea of the game being playable on multiple screens. We want to treat CoD as Minecraft.
Phil Spencer also stated that Xbox Game Pass’s slowdown has affected the console.
“We are seeing incredible growth on PC…on console I’ve noticed growth slow down, mainly due to the fact that you reach everyone on console who wants to subscribe.”

Xbox Game Pass has slowed down the growth of its console.
However, not all is good news for Xbox. Spencer admitted that Game Pass’ growth on consoles has slowed its rhythm.”We’re seeing incredible growth on PC… on console I’ve seen growth slow down, mainly because at some point you’ve reached everybody on console that wants to subscribe.”
Microsoft responded to the UK regulator by stating that even if Activision Blizzard is acquired, they won’t be able to launch Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass. This is because Activision Blizzard signed a contract with Sony.
